Hey, welcome back to DOTK blogs, today I will be discussing faith which will also be in this week podcast. I'm sure you've all heard of faith and I'm going to discuss what it means as a christian and also provide some biblical and personal examples to better explain faith. Stay tuned, be sure to subscribe to the blogs, podcast, and youtube.
#HeyGworlHey ( click the hashtag link to submit your testimonies). HeyGworlHey is a segment that I included in each of my blogs and podcast now. It designed for women to share their God-given testimonies. No testimony is too big or too small. If God was in it orchestrating it then it is indeed a testinony. You choose how much you want to share sis!
Can be anonymous if you’d like by your request
Can be kept between me & you by your request -
I can read it & share it on my podcast by your request
You never know who’s listening & watching and needs to hear your testimony and that’s why I created HeyGworlHey, whether you send your testimony or not.
I’ll continue to share mine and hopefully this will get other women to do the same. I encourage you to participate to allow other women to hear what God has done for you.
Don’t be shy, Gods given you a story for a purpose. Our testimonies are bigger than us. Our testimonies inspire many people. - Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Now that you know about our new segment which I've already gave this news on my 2 recent podcast episodes however this is the first time I'm giving the news on the blog. I'm going to share my HeyGworlHey moment.
Recently, I've been in this constant ritual religious routine with God, not intentionally but it just snuck on me and the other night I sat in God's presence I prayed in my head then I just sat there in silence for approximately 30-45 minutes and God spoke to me so clear so evident of things He's doing in my life, the things I need to work on, pray about etc. I had to repent of that religious spirit because God isn't interested in our to-do list to make us feel "good" he's interested in our hearts so that we know He is good. God spoke to me " sitting in my presence is how we build our relationship when you rush my revelation and rush my word it grieves me.." God said more to me but my prayers are scared and I only wanna share what's needed to get to my point. The point is we often times get into this routine, busyness, and we end up talking to God as if we're calling him just to get something from Him and dump all our problems into Him then we hang up the phone. I mean how would we like if someone did that to us, if someone called us just to only talk about themselves then hang up we would feel pretty insignificant right? Exactly. We must realize yes God is there for us and he will give us what we need/desire if it's in His will however he wants a relationship he wants us to sit down in the midst of our busy day and take the time out to spend time with Him not as a to-do list but because we want to because we cannot function from an empty cup. God needs to fill our cup continuously. Anyhow, sis that's my quick #heygworlhey moment , I pray you share yours next time so I can share it on the podcast/blog. Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Matthew 21:22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”
Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Faith requires Christ, it's not something that exists without God. In order, to have faith you must believe in God. God's purest existence is unseen and to live for Him requires faith because we will not always see what he's doing it's in those unknown moments that require us to have faith. Faith doesn't make things easy it makes things possible.
The enemy of faith is fear. In 2 Timothy 1:7 it states "For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control." To quickly know what is6 and not from God ask yourself where is this coming from? what's my motive? question like these will help. If you've been experincing fear the opposite of faith it's evident the enemy is giving you fear to keep you from having faith in God because without faith (Hebrews 11:6) it's impossible to please God. The enemy loves to throw fear at us but God has also given us power, love and self-control. How do you respond to fear? Do you entertain those thoughts or do you cast them down? If God ultimately gave you power then this means you have authority in Jesus Christ alone, if God has given you love then it's perfect love that cast out all fear (1 John 4:18), if God has given you self-control that means you're capable of not letting fear rule you but walking by faith and not sight. Amen.
When we are walking in faith we cannot be shaken by the news, culture, and trends of this world. We must be lead by the spirit of God (Holy Spirit). Faith begins with God, it is His gift and every good and perfect gift comes from above (James 1:17). Having faith is also revealed by a person's actions. Faith and works coexist one without the other is dead. It's like saying you believe you're gonna eat healthier well you can know it and say it all you want but until you start meal prepping a healthy meal, going to a healthier grocery store, restaurant, counting calories, and reading the nutrition label then guess what it's not going to work.
Let me be clear faith is not some manifestation, I know the world today praises that which is witchcraft it is a complete abomination before God. Manifestation is thinking you can bring forth something into your life by focusing, believing, and attracting it. It is a new age practice , it ignores the sovereignty of God, manifester becomes their own god, it robs you of the gift of waiting on God's timing, God doesn't get the glory, it creates idols etc. In Exodus 20:3 it states : you shall have no other gods before me." Faith is so much bigger and better than that. again it requires God. While as manifestation requires yourself and your efforts which is also pride thinking you are you're own god it's complete mockery of the true living God. Satan will do anything to keep you from God's presence and purpose for your life. He is the father of lies as the bible states in John 8:44.
I'm sure you've heard of the story of Jesus calming the storm while Peter was fearful. Jesus slept through the storm there is peace in knowing faith in knowing God will bring us through the storms of life.
Matthew 8:23-27
NIV
Jesus Calms the Storm
23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him.
24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.
25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
Jeuss knew his authority when fear tried to arise, his disciples didn't understand it but truly it was faith. The only way you'll know if you have faith and level of faith you have as a believer is when the storms coming how is your reaction on those circumstances? Do you beleive God will bring you through it? Are you drowning in doubt? Are you still praising God ? Questions like these will help you to evaluate your faith and be honest. There's no condemnation in Christ Jesus , God is here to help us and purify your hearts not guilt or shame us that comes from the enemy.
In order to grow your faith, focus on Jesus. When we are baby Christian's just new to the walk with God it's okay to have a mustard seed of faith. A mustard seed is a very tiny tiny seed. Luke 17:6, Jesus tells His disciples, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.” By using the uncommonly small mustard seed as an example, Jesus is speaking figuratively about the incalculable power of God when unleashed in the lives of those with true faith. The tinest bit of faith eventually grows as we water it. We aren't meant to have a mustard seed of faith our entire lives and journey with Christ we are meant to grow.
“So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.” Luke 17:6
Steps to growing your Faith in Christ Jesus:
Grow Through Hearing the Word
Grow Through Believing the Word
Grow Through Taking God’s Word
Grow Through Acting on God’s Word
“Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead…. Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works” (James 2:17-18, NKJV).
It’s one thing to read, believe and take hold of something. It’s another to act as though you believe it.
Faith questions:
Are you ready to give a defense for your faith?
What areas of faith do you struggle with?
Do you have any doubts about your faith?
Are you prepared to tackle contradictions in the Bible?
Do you know how to address the issue of suffering under a good God?
