Hey welcome back to another blog, my name is Dasia Host of Daughters of The King. Today I'll be discussing the importance of a slingshot how it correlates to the Christian faith and the seasonal changes we all go through.

Slingshot: a Y-shaped stick , hand powered, flinging small stones. A slingshot gets pulled back far to aim and release.

A slingshot is pretty similar to what you may know as a archery. They require the same skills. Both of these objects get pulled back to release rapidly and precisely. I won't go into the slingshot object specifically this is more so an analogy that I'm going to break down in a way God has us in certain seasons.

Pull/Setback

Sometimes God will pull us back whether that be to a place, or getting laid off your job, struggling financially, a relationship ending. All these things can be considered a setback and nine out of ten probably hurt you at the moment.

Setbacks means something that happens that delays or prevents a process from developing.

Stagnation means is a state or condition marked by lack of flow, movement or development in a place, country and the life of people. Most times in setbacks people give up and become stagnant, trust me Sis I've been there.

I've wanted to throw in the towels, I've prayed, I've cried, I felt hopeless through my setbacks. Honestly, I feel as though I'm going through a slingshot season at this moment. I feel stuck and stagnant as I've described so I'm here to help you and also myself. Now this isn't my first setback, I've had plenty others so I know what it's like.

Setbacks and Stagnation are not inherently from the enemy sometimes God causes setbacks now stagnation definitely is what satan will do. See it's not the setback it more so what you do about it. For exmaple, The israleties was in Egypt for 430 years (Exodus 12:40). God intended them to come out before then but they we're rebellious and disobdient toward God. In other words, how you handle your setback is up to you, how long you stay in it is also up to you. The whole purpose God wants you to learn is to trust him paitently but if you dwell in doubt, fear, and the things of the enemy likes the bring upon us then yes you're setback season will prolong. Any season honestly can prolong itself more than God intended.

The more you prolong your setback, the more you delay your comeback

In the Bible, Job had major setbacks if you haven't read about the book of Job definetly do so becuase it's super relatable during your setback seasons trials and tribulations.

ree
“Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? No one else on earth is like him, a man of perfect integrity, who fears God and turns away from evil.” Satan answered the Lord, “Does Job fear God for nothing? Haven’t you placed a hedge around him, his household, and everything he owns? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But stretch out your hand and strike everything he owns, and he will surely curse you to your face.” “Very well,” the Lord told Satan, “everything he owns is in your power. However, do not lay a hand on Job himself.” So Satan left the Lord’s presence.” ‭‭Job‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬-‭12‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Now you may be wondering why would God let Satan cause suffering upon Job, but if you read with context you'll see Satan was pretty much looking roaming the earth for someone to attack. God offered Job because he knew Job was faithful in Him, God knew he could trust Job to get through this attack on Satan and pass God's test. God tests us because of these factors: “And not only that, but we also boast in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance, endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope. This hope will not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Satan thought if everything was taken away from Job he would stop living for God but that wasn't the case as you'll begin to find out throughout the book of Job. If Satan took everything away from you would you still trust God? Or would you give up and stray away from God?.

After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and doubled his previous possessions.” Job‬ ‭42‬:‭10‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Don't based temporary circumstances off an eternal sovereign God!

Aim/Count It All Joy

James 1:2-4 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

A slingshot is aimed to make sure it releases in the right area, sis God wants to make sure you're prepared so he can release your blessings and breakthrough. God never miss either.

When setbacks in life happen we should count it all joy because it's literally to produce our Godly character everything is truly for our good. The very thing you we're probably worried about last year I bet you don't even worry about it anymore, because you now know it was for your good. Romans 8:28. Jesus told us we would have trials and troubles here on this earth the Bible is truly impactful. John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Why worry, stress, complain when Jesus has already overcame the world, maybe God didn't come through in the way you expected but He did come through. Nothing on this earth matters but spreading the gospel, being a light in this dark world, loving others and our eternal relationship with God.

Note that every battle isn't yours, it's the Lord who will fight for you Deuteronomy 1:30. In the spiritual realm, there's so much going on that we don't know about nor see. You may see it as "I lost my job" but in the spirit that job was going to bring an open door to the enemy. You may think "why I don't have any friens anymore?" but in the spirit God is protecting you from invdivudals who was going to be alongside of satan to destory your destiny. We be so quick as humans to dismiss our trials and tribulations but truly we should count it all joy. We should be grateful we serve a God who will never let us settle in this life, who will protect us and go above and beyond for us. He literally sent Jesus His Only Son, how much more do you think he will do for you? John 3:16.

God wants us to trust Him. He wants us to rely on His character as the faithful God who will fulfill His promises during any setback. They are merely His instruments to bring about the change He wants to see in us. Setbacks are actually allowed by God to prepare us for something great the comeback!

The setback allows you to learn, grow, prepare for your comeback. Most successful people learnt more in their failures, disciplines, than they did in their success and procrastination.

Release/Comeback

ree

When God releases the slingshot it springs forth rapidly. This may release you into destiny, purpose, breakthrough and so many blessings that you've been praying and waiting for. Never doubt or limit God.

A comeback is a return to a former position or condition (as of success or prosperity) : Recovery, Revival

Comebacks always feel so fufilling to know all your suffering wasn't for nothing is a great experience. The greatest comeback is maintaing your relationship with God and defeating the enemy. The greatest comeback was when Jesus died on that cross and miracously rose on the third day and ascended to Heaven and then left us with the Holy Spirit the same spirit that rose him. Let that sink for a minute because I am astonished. You can find all of this in the book of Acts.

ree

In the book of Job, despite Job's sufferings God still had a comeback he was blessed with double for his trouble. Many people want the comeback but not the setback the two work best together in order to have a comeback you must endure a setback. Be mindful and notice the areas of your life that you neglect. Be intentional. Don’t settle for surface level change you need to weed out the deep roots of sin and get to the bottom of that thing. Be encourage know that we serve a God that can use your Setback as a set up for your comeback, a new fresh start. God wants to do a new thing in your life that's what your comeback is about.

Isaiah 43:19

Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

God can use your Setback as a set up for your comeback – a new fresh start.

To have a proper comeback here's what you can do:

  1. Don't Be Discouraged: God promises that when we do come to Him and lay our burdens at His feet, that He will give us His peace in exchange for our troubles as we trust in Him. Philipains 4:6. Another way to overcome discouragement is through worshipping God.

  2. Shift Your Focus: The bible says in Proverbs 23:7, “As a man thinks in his heart so is he.”

  3. Remember when God brought you out the last time

Exodus 14:14

The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
